Frequently Asked Questions

The things people ask before they book.

Straight answers from Skylar. If yours isn't here, call — she'd rather tell you herself.

Your first visit

What should I expect at my first appointment?
Arrive 10–15 minutes early to complete a short health intake form. Every session starts with a short conversation about your goal for the day — relaxation, pain relief, a specific area — and the pressure you prefer. That conversation stays open for the whole session.
Do I need to fill out an intake form?
A health intake form is required before your first appointment and updated once a year. It covers health history, current medications, areas of pain or limited movement, and anything you’d like avoided.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear whatever is comfortable. There’s nothing else you need to bring.
Should I check with my doctor before booking?
Check with your healthcare provider first after any surgery or procedure, or after giving birth. If you have a serious medical diagnosis, a physician’s written consent is required before services.
How do I decide which session length to book?
Start with your primary goal — relaxation or pain relief. Sixty minutes suits one or two focused problem areas, ninety allows full-body work with time to concentrate where it’s needed, and two hours adds detailed attention to chronic tension. Skylar talks this through with you at the start of every session.

Booking & scheduling

Do I need an appointment?
Yes. Appointments required — no walk-ins. Book online through Vagaro.
How far ahead should I book?
Booking about two weeks ahead is recommended. Same-day appointments are sometimes possible but availability is limited.
Can I reschedule online?
You can reschedule and pre-book online through Vagaro.
Is a deposit required?
No deposit is required to book.
Do you offer couples massage?
Yes, on request. Please book two to four weeks ahead so a second therapist can be arranged for the session.
Do you offer mobile or in-home massage?
Yes. Travel is $1 per mile, plus a $20 set-up and take-down fee.

Cancellations & late arrivals

What if I’m running late?
There is a 10-minute grace window, but the session still ends at its scheduled time, so minutes lost come out of your massage. More than 10 minutes late and the appointment is treated as a late change.
What is the cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice. With less than 24 hours’ notice, 50% of the session price is charged. No-shows are charged the full price. Outstanding charges are settled before the next booking, and repeated late cancellations mean future appointments are prepaid.

Payment

What payment methods do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Debit and cash.
Can I pay with my HSA or FSA?
Yes, HSA and FSA payments are accepted.
Is gratuity expected?
Gratuity is always appreciated but never expected.
Is there a membership?
Sky Loyalty is on the way — it launches with the new Briarcrest studio. Ask Skylar at your next visit to be told first, or call (979) 219-2256.

During & after your session

Can I ask for a different pressure or focus area?
Absolutely. Pressure and focus areas are agreed at the start, and you can change either at any point during the session. Massage should never be painful.
Can I ask for certain areas not to be worked on?
Yes — tell Skylar, or note it on your intake form. Communication about comfort is encouraged throughout.
What should I do after my massage?
Drink plenty of water and take the rest of the day to rest.
